My seven year old son got this police station as a birthday present and he just loves it. We spend a day putting it together. Ever since he is rebuilding it and changing it over and over. He does not get bored with it.

This is a great Lego set. It has neat, detailed pieces and is fun to play with. I bought it for my six year old son who had never had Legos before. Although we have enjoyed the set, I wish we had started with something smaller since this large set quickly overwhelmed him. If I had it to do over I would start with a smaller set to make sure that he likes Legos and was capable of putting them together with some assistance. My husband and I spent hours putting this set together after he gave up.

There are play-police stations out there, but very few jails. My daughter wanted a jail, and the "Police Headquarters" fills the bill. Sort of. The main problem is that the cells are so small that if Legoland ever gets a court, one of the first cases will probably be an ACLU appeal of the conditions in the jail. We are talking SERIOUS overcrowding issues with even one prisoner per cell (and there are only two)! As our Legoland is a hotbed of crime and villainy, we have already outgrown this facility.
For those who have not put one of these structures together, be advised that they are very time-intensive. The ultimate result is eye-pleasing, but the confined spaces make enjoying the many little details included difficult for anyone with fingers larger than those of a Praying Mantis.
Bottom line, this is more of a show-piece than a functional structure.
