Lego can do no wrong releasing the modular buildings series. Right after the iconic cafe corner, they have launched yet another absolutely stunning addition to the Lego block. This is what Lego stands for and ought to be: great details and innovative building techniques. The architecture, color scheme, range of pieces and end result are just fantastic. So much so that I purchased the other 2- the cafe corner and fire brigade. Trust me, the trio together is a sight to behold on your display shelf. All runaway Lego classics!

I have built the Cafe Corner set and thought that was the "cat's meow" until I built this one. This set by far more complex and detailed! But it does add nicely to the Cafe Corner (these sets were meant to connect together).
This is easily one of the main sets that any serious Lego collector should own. I personally do not recommend it to anyone younger than 12 or so - this set has many tiny pieces and takes a while to assemble. For me, it took about 5 hours or so in total but I built it one floor at a time over three days (the middle floor is quicker than the top or bottom as it has the least amount of pieces). With that said, patience is needed!
This set is nicely adorned with the grocer (first floor) pretty much fully stock/furnished. The second and third floor have a few basic starter items (grandfather clock, fire place, radiator) and plenty of room for your own ideas if you wish to finish furnishing it.
I hope Lego will add more of these models is a large scale release (you can purchase user made models off of the Lego website, but they are expensive!).

I got this Christmas 2008. It was a great addition to my city until I got interested in lego star wars and tore it apart. I gave up my city and started a new project: A star wars VII display. Today I am using the pieces to build a Jedi Temple. [...]

Purchased this for our 14 year old son for Christmas after it was clear this was the top item on his wish list. He spent several hours over several days building the model and really had a good time. The beauty is in the details.

The Lego Green Grocer was a hit with my 12 year old son. The box said for ages 16+, but he had no trouble assembling it on his own. He enjoys constructing the buildings and this one was a hit. He took 3 days to put it together, following the guide books, one level for each day. There is a step-by-step guide book for each level and it was nice that the 2,000+ pieces were divided by levels. He (and I) were fascinated by all the details that were included in the set--very creative. He would love the other sets that could be set up alongside the Grocer.
