I got this for Christmas this year and my husband and I worked on it together. It's been a long time since I put a lego kit together so when I started pulling bag after bag of similar colored pieces out of the box I started to wonder if this was a good idea.
I got over it real quick and started snapping bits together page by page. I'd do one page, my husband would do the next and we made pretty quick work of the base the first day. Day two, I went to work early by myself while he watched 'District 9' downstairs. By nightfall, I had a complete VW Beetle! I was tempted to toss the whole thing on the floor and watch tiny blue blocks fill the air like a swarm of gnats as I seem to remember that was what you did with finished lego projects but cooler heads prevailed and our handy work is on display in our living room!
I enjoyed it so much, I'm thinking of getting another big lego set.

It was a good kit, cleverly designed. Nothing too hard, but many small pieces. I'm sure he could have assembled it himself if we weren't filming it. My only knock is one for all big lego kits; would it kill them to bag them up in a way that corresponds with the directions (ie bag 1 for steps 1-4, bag 2 for steps 5-8, etc.)?

This was a real joy to assemble. I have it displayed with hatches closed, but for this Amazon terrific price, I'm buying another one to assemble and display with hatches open. I'm almost 73 so I well remember the bug and then Naders end of the fun of owning one. The assembly takes some care if you want everything to fit. Take your time and savor it. Thank you Amazon for the great price so I could justify the fun of two VW Bugs.

This is a great challenge for Lego fans. It is very detailed and takes quite a while to build. Definitely recommend for the true lego fan!
