My grandson loved the Legos Advent Calendar. Couldn't wait for his new surprise each day!

I purchased this for my daughter, but I have to admit that I look forward each day to opening up the new Lego surprise as much as she does. The days are grouped in themes with successive days toys working with each other. I don't think I will ever go back to any other kind of Advent Calendar. Even though it was the previous years calendar and a little more pricey, I was not disappointed.

Last year we bought this calendar and this year we bought Playmobil calendars. If you are already permanently in the Lego camp and have older kids that will enjoy these little meaningless peices to add to a larger Lego collection, then this is fine. However, if you are undecided, are looking for a truly great advent calendar regardless of brand, or are looking for a younger child, I highly recommend going with a Playmobil calendar instead. After only a couple days withe the Forest Animals calendar from Playmobile, the value is evident. These Lego calendars do not create an actual scene that means much of anything. As another reviewer noted, they seem like a bunch of disjointed pieces that have little to do with eachother. Additionally, they don't have much to do with Christmas, although, neither do some of the Playmobil models, depending on which you get. Overall, if you want a good calendar, high quality to use for more than one year, I would avoid this and go with Playmobil.

My son enjoyed this very much. Lots of legos to build. He still plays with the legos.

Before Christmas we promised the Lego Advent Calendar to our son, but it turned out to be sold out at the local Lego store or at lego.com . So we were elated that amazon.com had it! My son had a great time putting it together. It's a tradition for him to also put together the previous (two) years' calendars, he likes them so much. Each Advent Calendar is a different little community of people doing different jobs. So with three calendars, he's got a whole city of toys to play with. Lots of fun.
