Welcome to the grand opening of the Grand Emporium!
The LEGO Modular Buildings series continues with this spectacularly detailed 3-story department store, designed in a realistic scale with lots of special building techniques and rare pieces. On the street outside, citizens carry shopping bags, send letters at the mailbox, admire the window mannequins, then cool off at the ice cream stand while a busy window washer works above. Enter through the revolving doors to discover a ground-floor clothing department, complete with a cash register, fitting room, hats, jewelry, perfume, and even a selection of spare trousers. A brick-built escalator carries customers to the second floor housewares department with glassware and golden plates for special occasions, and then it’s up to the top floor for the toy department (complete with toy house and push-scooter) with an impressive chandelier above the open atrium. Up on the roof are a billboard and skylight!- Add this classic department store to your LEGO Modular Buildings collection

This is te best modular set so far. The things you can do with the Green Grocer, Create Café Corner, the Fire Brigade, and to a lesser exstant, The Market street...the combos are nearly endless. I cannot heep enough praise on this set.
there is one downside. The price on Amazon. Its by no means the lowest. If you happen to live near a lego store, they will order it for you and ist free shipping...so, Its 179.99 retail. You still can get it for that price off the lego web site...

Lego has topped itself again with the Grand Emporium set. I completed construction of the set in about 4 1/2 hours, with the help of my five-month old son. Okay, he was wasn't too much help. As with the other modular sets, there are three floors plus a roof with outstanding effects. The first floor sells clothes and jewelry, while the second floor is four housewares (it's the most bare), while the third floor sells toys. Only the first floor has a "checkout counter." Some of the elements that stood out for me:
- intricate tile design outside the building
- ice cream stand
- escalator to all floors (my mind would've melted if it had actually rotated like an escalator, but alas it does not)
- mannequins on window display
- billboard on the roof
- window washer
There was a definite wow factor with my older children on this set, just like with Green Grocer. I highly recommend this set!
