"Great gift for a Lego Star Wars fan" 2009-11-12
By ZippityZat (USA)
I bought this for my son a few years ago. He loved it and put it together within a few days. It is very fragile once together. At $469.94 this is very over priced. I paid less than $200.00 on Amazon for this set two years ago.

 "Missing pieces... go figure" 2009-05-12
By R. Cuadro (Virginia Beach, VA)
I would have figured that in this day in age that I would not be missing pieces on such an expensive Lego set. Not only that, but it is a pain in the rear to put together. It is designed beautifully but difficult to put together. If you are thinking of getting this, I would recommend using super glue to keep the pieces from falling off while building it.

 "Challenging, but worthwhile" 2008-07-23
By Andrew D. Haycock
Probably the most challenging Lego set I've put together. Many have complained about its durability during construction and while I did have several challenges, was able to get it together with only minor difficulties. Once the first half of it is complete (the "incomplete half", I highly recommend moving it wherever it will eventually end up, complete the final steps and finally attach everything to it. It will be difficult to move once it is complete.

My only two complaints are that the stage where you are to attach both portions of the incomplete half are difficult (I recommend super glue, since I found that until I got them both on, either of them fell off easily) and that I was shorted a bag of pieces and had to get replacements online.

Overall a challenging kit, but definitely worthwhile. One final bit of advice-during one of the first steps you attach the "steering wheel"-looking thing to the base. Make sure no prongs of this are covered by the support, or you will have to work backwards to uncover them.

 "Don't jiggle the table!" 2008-01-14
By Jonah's Mom (Knoxville, TN United States)
Santa brought this behemoth for our 8 year old this year. Translation- Dad spent 5 days at the dining room table with every bowl in the house being used to sort Lego's.

This kit is one of the older style kits. The bags aren't numbered or labeled with any sort of key. All 2000+ pieces needed to be sorted out for building ease.

When building the Death Star, have boxes handy to prop the model up. You build it one half at a time. (left-right)It tips over whenever you let go.

Our son loves the model, and was able to help with the building process, but it's only a matter of time and Nerf darts before it's back to square one.

 "Outstanding Lego set!!" 2010-05-23
By N. D. Chew (USA)
Outstanding Lego product. My seven year old saved for over a year to buy this himself. It is worth every penny and for him every "little" toy and sweet he couldn't buy while saving for this. After reading other reviews, I decided to keep a long to see how many hours it would take for him to complete this set. The grand total was 18 hours over a 4 day period. The only help received was separating the pieces once a bag was opened, the time to do that is counted in those 18 hours. He found the directional booklet (which is HUGE) easy to follow. The piece itself is amazing, the level of detail, the amount of places in which to re-enact movie scenes, the number of minifigs, makes this Lego at their very best. My son says he'd buy it again if he didn't have it. Truly worth the amount it costs. I would HIGHLY recommend this to any Lego, Star Wars fan or collector.

 "GREAT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!" 2010-02-15

This is a very awesome toy! I got it for Christmas. It took my Dad and I four days to put it together but it paid off! My Dad complained because although we were very, very careful not to lose or open any pieces before we needed them, we still found 10-15 missing pieces, but luckily we had extra Lego pieces from other sets to use. Still Lego ought to check this. Also the Death Star gun comes apart very easy so we had to glue it together. This is the first Lego set we've had that didn't come complete. But it is still very cool. Kids from other schools have come over just to see the Death Star!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

 "For True Lego Fans" 2010-02-06
By R. Baxter (Knoxville,TN)
The Lego Star Wars Death Star is a neat, fun, and exciting toy that is appropriate for a true diehard Lego fan. The complexity of building it requires an adult to participate for all ages up to teens. While my 8 year old son was able to complete small portions of this set, an adult is necessary to interpret the sometimes cryptic instructions. A buyer should be aware that this is an extensive building project with over 3800 pieces and an instruction book that is 256 pages. However, for a real Star Wars aficionado, there are some incredibly detailed sections of this toy that closely duplicate the scenes in the movie and an overall authenticity for which Lego deserves high praise. Also, the included minifigures are impressive and a big draw for most Lego fans.

As a word of caution, I would say that this Lego is not appropriate for amateur Lego builders. Furthermore, those who do purchase should be prepared to have some frustrating moments while constructing this mammoth toy. Nevertheless, my son is ecstatic to have this fascinating toy in his Lego collection.

 "death star missing pieces" 2010-02-02
By Daniel L. Friedman
This was a difficult project. The pieces come all in many, many different bags, but there is no apparent order to the bags. For example, all the 4 by 2 blocks do not

come together in a bag. It is a puzzle and multiple different pieces come in different bags. This took many hours to sort out in order to even start building. I think this was an unnecessary step. Other lego toys have different stages of the building process in differnt bags in order. it really is difficult enough for the children to do, let alone having to sort thousands of pieces first. this was unnecessary. in addition, in the end, there were at least 6 important pieces missing, with many extra pieces that were not used. this made little sense to me. luckily we have an extensive lego collection and were able to come up with substitutes, but for over $400, i believe that we should have received ALL the pieces. The actual toy looks marvelous and is very fun to play with. That said, i am still upset about the missing pieces and do not see why they had to be jumbled in the bags.

"Great toy. The kids love it!" 2010-02-02
By Kathleen (Oregon)
My 5 year old and 8 year old play with this each day. My eight year old, who is an avid Lego fan, put it together with lots of help from his dad. It took a long time to assemble, but the instructions were clear. My 8 year old does have to fix pieces that break off from the 5 year old playing with it, as parts of it are fragile. Overall, my kids think it's the greatest toy ever.

This product is great but your price is WAY OFF!! A new one at the store (and I have checked a number of them including Toys R Us, Target, Walmart, etc.) is only $399. I usually trust Amazon not to rip people off, but the price of $649 is ridiculous! The item is still in the stores, so don't by it here!
